Join our team of knowledgeable experts in a series of workshops to explore the rich heritage of the Abbey buildings and its treasures. The event will be accompanied by a book covering the exciting findings of the ambitious Abbey Project. All participants in the Day School will receive a complimentary copy of the book prior to its publication by Hexham Local History Society on 10th July 2017, to retail at £9. Places are limited and early booking is recommended. Fee: £30

11:30 – 3:30Workshops:
The workshops will provide opportunities for participants to become familiar with various projects undertaken by the Conservation Team. Themes covered will include the Restoration and Archaeology of the Priory Buildings, the lost Eastern Chapels, the Abbey’s collections of Early Prayer Books, Vestments and Furnishings, and the Digital Modelling of the Anglo-Saxon Abbey and Later Medieval Priory.
Each workshop session will last about 45 minutes and sessions will be repeated throughout the day. Participants will be able to sign-up for workshops of their choice at registration. Lunch is not provided but there will be time for participants to make their own arrangements.
There will also be guided tours of the Abbey Church and Priory Buildings.
