Festival of Music

From September 19-27, we celebrated the 2014 Hexham Abbey Festival of Music and Arts.
With the nation commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of World War 1, the Festival programme paid homage to all those who died, with music and arts conceived during wartime or directly inspired by it.
Among the many highlights of the Festival was the first visit to Hexham by the internationally acclaimed Parkour and Free Running team 3RUN, who amazed audiences in the Abbey with their spectacular displays of agility, strength and original musical interpretation.
The award-winning vocal ensemble VOCES8 returned to give our candlelight concert and a workshop for families, and as always, we welcomed our local musicians, both professional and amateur, who enriched the Festival, including the Hexham Abbey Festival Chorus and Orchestra, the Abbey Choir, the Abbey Girls’ Choir and many others.
As always, we extend our thanks to all those who have made the Festival possible through their generous support, including: Arts Council England, Core Music, Robson Print, Telecoms Solution Provider (www.bchdigital.com), Andy Marshall (Abbey photos) and www.organrecitals.com
We look forward to welcoming you to the 2015 Festival next September
