Hexham is on the Newcastle – Carlisle railway operated by Northern Rail. Trains stop at Hexham twice every hour during the day. From the station, it’s a ten minute walk to the town centre and Abbey. Some of this walk is uphill.
Hexham is just off the A69. At the Bridge End roundabout, take the exit signposted to Hexham Town Centre (A6079). Go straight over the next 2 roundabouts and then take the left hand turn into the Wentworth Car Park. this is the largest car park in Hexham, please note the signs as different coloured bays allow you to park for different lengths of time. The Tourist Information Centre is located here, and a pedestrian walkway leads up a hill to the Market Square and Abbey. You can't miss us once you are in the town!
If you want to avoid walking, there are limited parking spaces along The Sele on Beaumont Street which is a very short walk to the Abbey.
There’s lots of free parking in Hexham, but visitors may need a parking disc to display in their car. These discs are available at a small charge from the Tourist Information Centre and most local shops. If you have a parking disc from elsewhere, you can use this in Hexham. If you don’t have a disc, you can leave your car for 10 minutes while you get one. For full details see Parking in Hexham where you can also download a map of the car parks.
The Abbey Parish Office is in The Parish Centre west of the Nave. The Office is open Monday to Friday 9.30am until 2.30pm. Messages may be left on the above number or email the Rector's Secretary with any enquiries.
