Visit the Mansio in the Abbey cloisters before it begins its tour of Hadrian’s Wall! This is a contemporary structure, a modern Roman ruin, celebrating new work from writers and poets including David Almond, Hollie McNish and Lemn Sissay. www.mansio.co.uk

Make a Roman-themed pop-up book. Find out how to use simple paper engineering techniques to make your own pop-up book. Discover what a Roman mansion was, and use your own drawings and text to create a Roman story inspired by the mysterious stones of Hexham Abbey. All materials provided. Suitable for 6+.
