Our newly refurbished Priory Buildings offer unique spaces for celebrations, meetings, performances and community events. The Great Hall, Wilfrid Room, Etheldreda Room and The Prior’s Hall can be hired individually or as one.

We can arrange furniture to suit your event, and we offer a range of equipment for performances, meetings and presentations.

We are fully licensed, and can put you in touch with recommended caterers who can suggest seasonal menus for formal dining, buffet or finger buffet food.

The Great Hall

The Great Hall is an elegant room from the Regency period with an ornately decorated ceiling and five large south facing windows overlooking the Abbey Grounds. This is the perfect setting for wedding receptions, christenings, banquets, musical performances, ceilidhs and parties.The Great Hall is often hired with the adjacent Wilfrid Room

The Wilfrid Room

The Wilfrid Room is adjacent to the Great Hall and the kitchen. It is ideal as a food servery or bar area for large parties occupying the Great Hall. It is also suitable for smaller receptions and meetings.

Room dimensions: 8.0m x 5.5m

The Etheldreda Room

The Etheldreda Room adjoins the Prior’s Hall. With Medieval arched windows facing west and a large Georgian window facing north, it is light and elegant. When hiring the suite of rooms for a large party, this room, furthest from the Great Hall, is often used for serving an evening buffet and as a quiet place for people wanting to chat with friends instead of dancing. It is also used for smaller receptions and meetings.

The Prior’s Hall

The Prior’s Hall adjoins the Etheldreda Room. With west facing arched windows along one wall, a beautiful Medieval stone fireplace and oak floor, this room has a cosier, more intimate feel than the other rooms. When hiring the suite of rooms for a large party, this can be used as the room in which to greet guests and serve a welcome drink. It is also suitable for smaller receptions and meetings.
